Spaulding Youth Center Hosts 9th Annual National Foster Care Month Celebration

May 07, 2015

Spaulding Youth Center was proud to serve as the host location for the Annual National Foster Care Month Celebration this past Saturday, May 2nd. The celebration is planned and presented by the New Hampshire Division of Children, Youth and Families in cooperation with Bethany Christian Services. To kickoff May as National Foster Care Month, foster and adoptive families from across New Hampshire were invited to attend this celebration and partake in this fun outdoor event.

“At Spaulding Youth Center, we are so honored to host this event for the fourth year in a row,” shared Pat SeawardSalvati, Admissions and Community Based Programs Director. “Every year, attendees rave about this event, our campus and their experience. The families look forward to this celebration every May, and because of their enthusiasm, the number of participants grows a little more each year.” Final tallies from Saturday indicate another attendance increase with over 245 guests and 75+ volunteers, including the Franklin Elks Club who donated food and meal preparation for all participants.

Starting at 10:30am, the Annual National Foster Care Month Celebration registration opened, welcoming invited guests to the Spaulding Youth Center campus. From there, participants could enjoy a wide variety of activities offered by Squam Lakes Natural Science Center, Buster’s Balloon Animals, Back in the Saddle, Author Marv Klassen-Landis, and Life is good. Spaulding’s own Experiential Challenges Outdoors (EChO) program instructors facilitated rock climbing for participants. To conclude the event, BAE Systems donated fifteen laptops which were awarded to lucky attendees. Special thanks to Wendy’s Wonderful Kids for helping to produce this great event.
