Spaulding Academy & Family Services is proud to host many events and happenings on campus for our students and children. Between holiday celebrations, spirit day festivities, success ceremonies and special events, campus life is definitely lively.

Our campus hosts nearly monthly events to keep the students and children engaged and learning, while developing social and academic skills. Below is our current line-up of happenings to provide an insider view to life on campus.

 

Authors Tea

Students spend weeks writing, editing, illustrating and publishing their unique work to share with visitors for the annual Author’s Tea. Each year, students, staff, family and friends enjoy this afternoon of artistic expression.

Field Day Annual Event

Spaulding Academy’s Field Day brings sunshine and joy as students dunk their teachers and staff, creating unforgettable memories. Students have the opportunity to race through bounce houses, slide on slip ‘n’ slides, and share laughter with staff from across the campus. Beyond the fun, Field Day fosters unity and togetherness, breaking down barriers and strengthening bonds between students and mentors. It showcases the power of creating cherished memories and the importance of building a community that resonates throughout the school year.

Multicultural Celebration

The Multicultural Tradition Celebration is an annual academic event that provides students with the opportunity to research various cultures and customs throughout the world, then present their findings through the arts. The 2023 performances included singing, dancing, and more.

Science Fair

Each April, Spaulding Academy & Family Services hosts the Science Fair, where students at Spaulding Academy can come together and showcase their scientific skills with unique experiments. The children put hard work into preparing their science projects and enjoy the opportunity to present their findings to family and friends during the Science Fair. This exciting event provides an opportunity for young students to explore and showcase their curiosity about the world around them. Students can practice scientific inquiry and experimentation, as well as develop presentation and communication skills as they explain their projects to visitors.

Winter Carnival

The annual Winter Carnival at Spaulding Academy & Family Services is an outdoor experiential learning event hosted by the Academy’s Experiential Challenges Outdoors (EChO) program. Students build their own sleds and decorate them using a designated theme, then enjoy a day full of winter activities. This event is a great way for the school community to experience outdoor educational play for all ages.

Annual Employee Appreciation

Our employees are our most valuable asset so we celebrate our staff each August with activities on campus. For one of these activities, Spaulding Academy & Family Services hosts a staff appreciation celebration to recognize those with milestone anniversaries of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years. We are proud of our staff and longevity achievements – our most tenured employee celebrated 42 years in 2016!

NHASEA Annual Summer Conference

This multi-day academy held in July by the New Hampshire Association of Special Education Administrators (NHASEA) offers special education administrators intensive sessions to discuss and discover methods, treatments and developments in special education. In addition, the conference provides opportunities to gain support from colleagues and continuing in-service education from a well-respected and influential organization.

Arts Festival

The annual Arts Festival is one of the favorite special events on campus and provides an opportunity for everyone to participate in a true arts integration project. Since the preparations extend over several months, the Arts Festival provides teachers an opportunity to weave the theme and concepts into the classroom for maximum impact. The students’ hard work culminates with the Arts Festival each May.

National Foster Care Month Celebration

Each May, Spaulding Academy & Family Services hosts the Annual National Foster Care Month Celebration for nearly 300 guests and volunteers, including foster and adoptive families from across New Hampshire. This event is planned and presented by the NH Division of Children, Youth and Families.

Science Fair

Students choose experiments to perform and analyze in preparation for our annual Science Fair, which is held in April each year. Family and friends flood the school to proudly review the student projects and marvel at their creativity and scientific skills.

NHASEA Annual Education Conference

Spaulding Youth Center at NHASEA Conference 2017In association with the New Hampshire Council for Exceptional Children (CEC-NH) and New Hampshire Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE-NH), this two-day conference by New Hampshire Association of Special Education Administrators (NHASEA) offers professional development opportunities and focused presentations to help schools like Spaulding Academy & Family Services to provide quality services to children with disabilities.

Foster and Adoptive Care Essentials (FACES)

Each January through March, Spaulding Academy & Family Services hosts the Foster and Adoptive Care Essentials (FACES) training, a series of free workshops through Granite State College Education & Training Partnership. Anyone interested in becoming a foster or adoptive parent or are a relative caregiver are welcome to attend. These courses are required to become a licensed foster parent.

Multicultural Tradition Celebration

After researching holiday customs from around the world, students present their projects to family and guests for our annual Multicultural Celebration during December. Thanksgiving Dinner

Thanksgiving DinnerEvery November, Spaulding Academy & Family Services hosts our annual Thanksgiving dinner and welcome our supporters, community partners and friends to enjoy a traditional turkey dinner prepared by our dining services staff and served by our students.
