Our campus hosts nearly monthly events to keep the students and children engaged and learning, while developing social and academic skills. Below is our current line-up of happenings to provide an insider view to life on campus.
Students spend weeks writing, editing, illustrating and publishing their unique work to share with visitors for the annual Author’s Tea. Each October, students, staff, family and friends enjoy this afternoon of artistic expression.
Annual Employee Appreciation
Our employees are our most valuable asset so we celebrate our staff each August with activities on campus. For one of these activities, Spaulding Academy & Family Services hosts a staff appreciation celebration to recognize those with milestone anniversaries of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years. We are proud of our staff and longevity achievements – our most tenured employee celebrated 42 years in 2016!
NHASEA Annual Summer Conference
This multi-day academy held in July by the New Hampshire Association of Special Education Administrators (NHASEA) offers special education administrators intensive sessions to discuss and discover methods, treatments and developments in special education. In addition, the conference provides opportunities to gain support from colleagues and continuing in-service education from a well-respected and influential organization.
Field Day and Awards Celebration
At the conclusion of the school year each June, students and staff enjoy two special days on campus: Field Day and Awards Celebration. The Spaulding Academy & Family Services Field Day features a bouncy house, three-legged races, water relays, slip and slide, water balloon slingshot, and more!
For the Award Celebration, students are recognized for their academic efforts and accomplishments and staff are also acknowledged for their achievements. These events are a great way to celebrate the end of another successful school year.
The annual Arts Festival is one of the favorite special events on campus and provides an opportunity for everyone to participate in a true arts integration project. Since the preparations extend over several months, the Arts Festival provides teachers an opportunity to weave the theme and concepts into the classroom for maximum impact. The students’ hard work culminates with the Arts Festival each May.
National Foster Care Month Celebration
Each May, Spaulding Academy & Family Services hosts the Annual National Foster Care Month Celebration for nearly 300 guests and volunteers, including foster and adoptive families from across New Hampshire. This event is planned and presented by the NH Division of Children, Youth and Families.
Students choose experiments to perform and analyze in preparation for our annual Science Fair, which is held in April each year. Family and friends flood the school to proudly review the student projects and marvel at their creativity and scientific skills.
NHASEA Annual Education Conference
In association with the New Hampshire Council for Exceptional Children (CEC-NH) and New Hampshire Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE-NH), this two-day conference by New Hampshire Association of Special Education Administrators (NHASEA) offers professional development opportunities and focused presentations to help schools like Spaulding Academy & Family Services to provide quality services to children with disabilities.
Foster and Adoptive Care Essentials (FACES)
Each January through March, Spaulding Academy & Family Services hosts the Foster and Adoptive Care Essentials (FACES) training, a series of free workshops through Granite State College Education & Training Partnership. Anyone interested in becoming a foster or adoptive parent or are a relative caregiver are welcome to attend. These courses are required to become a licensed foster parent.
Each February, this fun outdoor event includes good old-fashioned fun with decorated cardboard sleds, snowshoeing, snowballs, arctic tug of war, crafts and refreshments. On good years, we have lots of snow! On less snowy years, we get to use the power of imagination to conjure up a winter wonderland.
Multicultural Tradition Celebration
After researching holiday customs from around the world, students present their projects to family and guests for our annual Multicultural Celebration during December.
