Fun Times at the (Three-Day) Field Day and Annual Academic Awards

June 29, 2021

Spaulding Academy & Family Services (formerly Spaulding Youth Center) transformed the annual Field Day into a three-day event this June to help the children celebrate the end of the traditional school year. The focus was on water games to beat the heat: the kids had a blast with water balloons and inflatable structures and slides. They also enjoyed egg and spoon and potato sack races, corn hole and Gaga ball.

Every day was a success thanks to the efforts of staff volunteers, including Jessie and Jason from the Experiential Challenges Outdoors (EChO) program who set up the inflatables, the maintenance team who kept them running with generators and water supplies, John M. and Connor S. who organized entertaining Gaga Ball games, the support staff who helped dress the kids properly, and the clean-up crew who helped keep our scenic hilltop campus gorgeous.

On Friday, Spaulding Academy re-imagined their annual Award Ceremony so that students and staff could be recognized with gestures of appreciation. First, all Spaulding Academy staff members received Academy staff shirts to proudly wear as school spirit wear. Then, students received individual awards from their classroom teachers and were treated to a pizza lunch. Although we could not celebrate during a campus-wide gathering, everyone was happy to enjoy a break from the regular routine, celebrate the conclusion of another successful academic year, and make lasting memories.
