Speech Language Pathologist Assistant

Spaulding Academy & Family Services provides a place of healing and growth, with a focus on the whole child.  Our approach is student centered and trauma informed with special emphasis on social and emotional learning through programs such as Choose Love.  Ours is a professional, non-traditional, learning community, collaborative and open, with specific emphasis on staff development and growth in an environment focused on the value of everyone’s strengths, skills, and experiences. 

Our Academic team has a full-time Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant position available in our year-round program.  Our students range from ages 4 to 21 and present with varying challenges. Classrooms are small (8-10 students) with manager support, peer support, as well as wrap around services that includes OT, PT and SLP’s.  Each person is engaged in contributing toward our goal of providing a strong foundation to support and help our students achieve the most successful outcomes. 

Education & Certification:  

  • Must hold an associate’s or a higher degree in speech-language pathology, communication sciences and disorders or communication disorders
  • Must be certified or eligible to be licensed as a Speech-Language Assistant by the New Hampshire Board of Allied Health Professionals


  • The person assuming the role of Speech-Language Assistant will adhere to the regulations of the State Department of Education and the Licensing Office of the Allied Health Professionals of New Hampshire
  • Deliver direct speech and language services to students according to individual Treatment Plans and under the supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist
  • Create visual supports as outlined in IEPs or Treatment Plans
  • Program Assistive Technology devices under the direction of a Speech Language Pathologist
  • Maintain up-to-date working knowledge of assistive technology and communication systems for a variety of communication needs
  • Maintain documentation of all contacts with parents/guardians, agency representatives, administration, and colleagues regarding student progress and concerns as needed
  • Assist with supporting the school mission and goals in a positive and professional manner with a student-centered approach to maximizing each student’s potential
  • Provides exceptional customer service to students, their families, and outside stakeholders

Knowledge & Attributes:

  • Experience working with children who have communication disorders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Successful completion of PCM training, 1st Aid, CPR, PBIS, medication distributions and one-week training sequence
