READING TUTOR

Spaulding Academy & Family Services is very pleased to share that we have a Reading Tutor position available. This position is responsible for the assessment and instruction of specially designed reading to designated students.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepares and delivers lesson plans for assigned students following approved curricula and materials:  including individual and group lessons in all assigned subject areas. Maintains acceptable daily lesson plans. 
  • Prepares progress reports and other materials needed to document student progress.
  • Provides guidance to classroom aides, student teachers, volunteers and other support staff in the implementation of specific strategies for classroom extension as may be specifically assigned by the Education Supervisor.
  • Assists in the development of appropriate pre and post testing relating to the curricula, carries out individual testing (based on qualifications, training and experience) for the school as well as for individual students including data analysis.
  • Conducts assessments as needed to document progress. Prepares group progress reports.
  • Maintain the health, safety, cleanliness, and good order of all settings as part of the classroom and/or cottage team.
  • Communicate with others for the benefit of the students and the Center as part of a collaborative team.
  • Attend and participate in Education Department and Classroom level meetings for the benefit of the students and the Center.

Education, Experience & Abilities

  • BS or BA in Education. 
  • NH Certification in General Special Education preferred. 
  • Specific certification and training in specialized programs, such as Orton Gillingham or Wilson.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassion and empathy for students and staff.
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team.
  • Professionalism and discretion.
  • The ability to focus on priorities, excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Experience with using computerized systems and technology to organize, store and relay information with ease.

Schedule:  Part-time: two days/week, 8:30am – 1:30pm
